About QJ

Data expertise. Human understanding. Business purpose.

QJ Data Solutions helps organisations turn information into better decisions, stronger processes and lasting capability.

Why we exist

The value of data is what people do with it.

A dashboard is only useful if it helps someone act. A digital process only works if people use it. A governance framework only matters if it changes how data is managed.

That is the perspective we bring to every engagement. We combine analytical depth with an understanding of how the business actually runs, and we build around the people who will use the result.

Founded in 2024 and based in North Riding, Johannesburg, QJ brings data strategy, analytics, digital delivery and training together in one focused consultancy. For larger programmes we add a trusted network of specialist developers and analysts, led and quality-assured by QJ.

Leadership

Experience that informs the work.

Percy Gumede founded QJ Data Solutions to give organisations the kind of data capability usually found only inside large banks and global consultancies, delivered in a way that fits how they actually work.

His foundations were laid in technology and banking, at IBM and RMB, where he saw how enterprise systems and financial data come together to support decisions. He went on to spend four years in Deloitte’s Risk Advisory practice, leading data analytics projects for clients across a range of industries.

He has also been the executive accountable for insight inside the business. At Sasfin Bank he established the Data Governance Office and implemented the bank’s data strategy, and as Executive Head of Business Insights at Barloworld Automotive & Logistics he led reporting and analytics across a large, multi-division group. As a Senior Manager at EY in Dublin, he delivered for clients in Ireland and beyond.

Having worked on both sides of the table, as adviser and as client, across South Africa, Ireland, Tanzania and Lesotho, he brings a practical, business-led view to every QJ engagement: start with the decision, build what people will use, and leave the capability behind.

Our commitment

Build something useful. Make it understandable. Help people take it forward.

Start with what matters

We connect the work to a business decision, an operational need or a measurable objective before we build anything.

Build for the way you work

Practical solutions shaped around your processes, your people and the technology you already own.

Leave capability behind

Training, documentation and knowledge transfer are part of delivery, so your team can take ownership.
